Betty M. DeRemer

Age 68 of Monroe, died Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg following lengthy battle with throat cancer. Betty was born June 20, 1944 in Monroe, the daughter of Marshall and Hilda (Powers) DeRemer. Betty worked as a bartender at the V.F.W. and Jailhouse Tap for many years. She was a member of the Monroe Moose Lodge #754 and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and gardening.

She is survived by two sons, Cary (Aimee Kent) Grunder of Verona, and Dustin Leutenegger of Monroe; grandchildren, Sophie and Tess Grunder, Samantha Goodman, and Hailey Leutenegger; three sisters, Lou (Frank) Mulligan of Florida, Jean Hartwig of Fitchburg, and Marsha (Leo) Thomann of Albany. She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Rona Grunder and Sheri Goodman; and four brothers, Marvin, Quentin, Walter, and Dan DeRemer.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2013, at 10:30 a.m., at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, with Pastor Randy Booth officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe, followed by a luncheon at the Monroe Moose Lodge. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A memorial fund will be established in Betty's name.
