Betty J. Larson

Age 82, of Monroe, died Friday, November 7, 2025 at St. Anthony Hospital in Rockford. Betty was born on August 5, 1943 in Darlington, the daughter of Milford and Arlene (Dolphin) Smith. She was united in marriage to George Larson on March 23, 1963 in Darlington. The couple were Gratiot residents all their married life. Following George's death on Sept. 14, 1994, Betty moved to Monroe. She currently resided at Twining Valley Retirement community. Betty worked at Janlin Plastics in Warren and as a cook at Gratiot grade school. She was employed in housekeeping for 22 years at Monroe Hospital before retiring in 2005. She was an avid Miami Dolphin fan and enjoyed playing bingo and cards (especially Phase 10 and Uno)

She is survived by three children, Paula Larson of Louisiana, Janet (James) Lee of Almena, WI, and Kelly Larson of Mt. Carroll, IL; seven grandchildren; many great grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Long of Waukesha; and a brother, Milton (Marilyn) Smith of Madison. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a sister, Dorothy May.

A celebration of Betty's life will be held in the spring. Burial of ashes will be in West Wiota Lutheran Cemetery. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family. Condolences may be shared at www.newcomerfuneralhome.net
