Calvin E. Erickson

Calvin Edmund Erickson, age 90 of Monroe, died peacefully May 7, 2018 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. He was born July 9, 1927 in Monroe, Wisconsin, the son of Edmund and Mildred (Zimmerman) Erickson. Calvin graduated from Argyle High School in 1945. He served in the US Army. Calvin and Virginia Rear were married on January 10, 1948 at Argyle Lutheran Church and recently celebrated 70 years of marriage. In April 1956, Calvin purchased Niles Plumbing and started his own business, Erickson Plumbing and Heating. He sold the business and retired in 1990. Calvin was a member of the United Methodist Church in Monroe, the Monroe V.F.W. Post #2312, and Monroe Moose Lodge #754. He enjoyed fishing (including many trips to Canada) and hunting with family and friends, playing cards, golfing and going for coffee at the Corner Cafe. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father and grandfather who was always there to support his family.

Cal is survived by his wife, Virginia Erickson of Monroe; children, James (Kimberly) Erickson of Superior, WI, Julie (Joe) Motz of Red Wing , MN, Scott (Madea) Erickson of Murray, Kentucky; 7 grandchildren, Nathan (Amanda) Erickson, Mark (Stacy) Erickson, Chad Erickson, Aaron (Analeah) Motz, Laura (Ryne) McNamara, Alyssa Erickson, Lauren (Giacomo) Gremizzi; 7 great grandchildren, Emmett and Eli Erickson, Mckenzie, Hailie and Aubrie Motz, and Jase and Kade McNamara; sisters, Gretchen (Tom) Resan and Janet Reimer; brothers, Alex (Mary) Erickson, Fritz Erickson, Robert Erickson and Jeff (Connie) Williams; sister in law, Audrey Erickson; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceeded in death by his parents; stepfather, Walker Williams, sister Marion Reininger; brothers, Duane Erickson, Edmund Erickson and John Williams; sisters in law, Selma Erickson, Linda Erickson; and brothers in law, Rick Reimer and Leroy Reininger.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday May 19 th at the Monroe United Methodist Church with Reverend Randy Booth officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Argyle, WI. Visitation will be held at the church Friday, May 18 th from 4 pm to 7 pm and from 10 am to 11 am on Saturday prior to the Celebration of Life Service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Monroe United Methodist Church or the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. The family is grateful for the compassionate and loving care given to Cal by the Pleasant View Nursing Home staff and the St. Croix Hospice staff.
