Obituary

Charlene A. Spangler, Monroe, WI, passed away June 27, 2026 - on her 87th birthday - surrounded by family.

She was born in Muscoda, WI, to Louie and Anna Mueller and grew up on the family farm with seven brothers and sisters.

In 1957, Char met her future husband, Roger, at the local roller rink. Roger regularly made the trip to the rink from his family's farm in nearby Bloom City, WI.

They were married on September 26, 1959, at the Muscoda Methodist Church and soon settled in Kenosha, WI.  There, Char worked for Jockey Menswear and later the Kenosha Hospital.

Over the next several years, Roger and Char would welcome daughters Connie and Jane.

The family moved to Monroe in 1973, where Char worked in the office at Advance Transformer. Later, she transitioned to Moore Business Forms until her retirement.

She was a competitive bowler and made the local paper a few times with her high scores.

She also enjoyed camping and fishing with her family. In later years, she enjoyed long walks and gardening around their rural home.

Char welcomed dog sitting for her grand-dogs over the years and absolutely cherished her role as Grandma when her grandson, Ryan Flynn, finally came along.

Char is survived by her husband Roger, daughters Connie (Rick) Rieder and Jane (Joe) Flynn, grandson Ryan Flynn, siblings Ronnie and Peggy Mueller, John and Karen Mueller, Arnie and Georgia Schunk, Charlie and Debbie Johnson, Lois Knoble, and brother-in-law Dick Poppe.

Char was preceded in death by her parents, Louie and Anna (Zadrazil) Mueller, sisters Marianne Poppe and Darlene Rivers, and brothers-in-law Jim Rivers and Steve Knoble.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Azura Memory Care in Verona and Agrace Hospice of Madison.
