Constance J. "Connie" Batty

Age 86 of Monroe, died Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at the Monroe Clinic Hospice Home. Connie was born on March 13, 1932 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Thomas and Eunice (Westphal) Crawford. She graduated from Portage High School in 1950 and was united in marriage to Robert J. "Bob" Batty on August 6, 1954 in Portage. Connie and Bob moved to Monroe in 1965. She worked at the Alphorn Motel for 15 years and for Ruda Distributing Company for five years. Connie loved her family, friends, and her faith as she was a longtime member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish. Her dedication to her faith was evident as she assisted Monsignor Campion by helping prepare the daily mass at St. Clare Hospital for over 20 years and was a supporter and volunteer for the Apostolate to the Handicapped. She also enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badger football.

She is survived by three daughters, Jean (Bill) Ruda of Monroe, Sharon (Gary) Bosco of Glenwood Springs, CO, and Linda Batty of Janesville; a granddaughter, Lauren (Grant) Tenney Denison of Portland, OR; a brother, Bob (Muggsy) Crawford; a sister, Barbara (Mike) Donnelly; and two sisters-in-law, Helen Porter and Gloria Crawford. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert, on Oct. 8, 1981; an infant son; a sister, Patricia Horton; and two brothers, Thomas Crawford Jr. and Donald Crawford.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Clare of Assisi Parish at St. Victor Catholic Church with Monsignor Larry Bakke officiating. Interment will be held in Silver Lake Cemetery, Portage, at 1:00 p.m. on September 5. Visitation will be at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, on Tuesday, September 4, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a rosary service led by CDA Court Mazzuchelli of Green County at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested in Connie's name to St. Clare of Assisi Parish Holy Ground, Green County Humane Society, Apostolate to the Handicapped, or the Monsignor Thomas F.
