David J. Petersen
Age 47 of Monroe went home to be with his Lord Jesus on Sunday, November 2, 2014, after a long and brave battle with cancer. Dave was born October 4, 1967 in Des Plaines, IL, the son of Arthur J. and Barbara A. (Berget) Petersen. He graduated from Palatine, IL High School in 1985 and received an Associate Degree in computer technology from Gateway Technical College. Dave married Tracy Cortte on June 26, 1993 in Brookfield, WI. He worked for Quad Graphics and Firstar Bank in Milwaukee for several years and was employed at various Grande Cheese plants for the past 14 years. David attended Monroe Bible Church and had a close relationship with the Lord. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed biking, camping, and was an amateur radio (ham) operator in his spare time. David was skilled at a wide range of repairs, not only at work but also around the house.
He is survived by his wife, Tracy L. Petersen of Monroe; two children, Jesse and Hannah Petersen of Monroe; his mother, Barb Petersen of Williams Bay, WI; his father, Arthur (Cathy) Petersen of Palatine, IL; a brother, Erik (Suzy) Petersen of Delavan, WI; a sister, Dori (Rick) Bechtel of Elkhorn, WI; mother-in-law, Marjorie Dunn of Waukesha, WI; sister-in-law, Tammy (David) Oberley of Eagle, WI; and several nieces, nephews, and other family members. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and father-in-law, Dennis Cortte.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 7, 2014, at 12:00 p.m., at the Monroe Bible Church, 2613 8 th Avenue, with Pastor Dan Krahenbuhl officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel – Hawthorne Cemetery, Clarno Township. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy a memorial fund will be established. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family.
