Donna E. Elmer

Age 80 of Davis, IL, died on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Rockford. Donna was born on July 2, 1938 in Monroe, the daughter of Merrill and Veva (Divan) Smith. Donna graduated from Monroe High School and later attended Florida Tech College in Orlando. She married Donald W. Elmer on June 12, 1955 at St. John's United Church of Christ in Monroe. She enjoyed singing in various choirs, collecting antiques, and owned a large doll collection. She loved meeting new people and making friends while traveling with her husband who served in the Air Force. Following Donald's retirement, Donna worked seasonally at the Swiss Colony. They have resided in Lake Summerset for the past 40 years.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Elmer of Lake Summerset; four children, Kreg (Rhonda) Elmer of Browntown, Kim (Lori) Elmer of Clermont, FL, Todd (Tonya) Elmer of Monroe, Stephanie (Russell) Stratton of Lake Charles, LA; six grandchildren; 12 greatgrandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Jensen of Monroe. She was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Jessica Elmer; and a sister, Arlis Bittner.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, November 30, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., at the NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, Monroe. Inurnment will be in Saucerman Cemetery, Cadiz Township, followed by a luncheon at the Monroe Moose Lodge. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
