Douglas R. Stephenson

Age 86 of Albany, died Monday, September 4, 2017 at the Evansville Manor. Doug was born on April 10, 1931 in Albany Township, the son of Byron and Mable (Anderson) Stephenson. He graduated from Albany High School in 1948 and married Joyce Prisk of Monticello on October 20, 1951. Doug farmed mostly all of his life in Albany Township. He also worked for four years as a machinist at Federal Refrigeration in Belleville. He was a member of Zwingli United Church of Christ in Monticello.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joyce Stephenson of Albany; three sons, Terry (Connie), Alan (Darcy), all of Albany, and Daniel of Cordes Lakes, AZ; six grandchildren, Christopher, Jennifer, Jamie (Sara), Troy (Amy), Jonah (Leona), and Jedd (Lauren); 14 great grandchildren; and a sister, Joann Sellnow of Belleville. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Justin; an infant granddaughter, Sara; and a sister, Delores Frehner.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 11, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., at the Zwingli United Church of Christ, Monticello, with Reverend Lance Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery, Monticello. Visitation will be held on Sunday, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Voegeli-Newcomer Funeral Home, Monticello.
