Edna M. Schuetz
Age 106 of Monroe, died Thursday, April 23, 2015 at Rachel's Choice Care Home. Edna was born April 15, 1909 in Afolkey, IL, the daughter of Fred and Marie (Dietrich) Peter. She attended business college in Brookings, S.D. and married William A. Schuetz on October 10, 1940 in Freeport. He preceded her in death on June 30, 1990. Edna and her husband farmed west of Monroe for many years and Edna also worked in the accounting office of Al Moritz and Kuhne Construction before retiring. She was a long time member of St. John's United Church of Christ and a former Sunday School teacher, Women of the Moose #754, 50 year member of Liberty Homemakers, Smock Valley Watershed, and Swiss Club. Edna also enjoyed playing cards, sewing, crafts, and was a long time 4-H leader.
She is survived by three daughters, Marlea (Randy) Steiner of Blanchardville, Renee (Allen) Pesavento of Franklin, TN, and Aleda (Terry) McArdle of Stoughton; four grandchildren, Reagon Leopold, James (Lisa) Pesavento, Christopher (Kristin) McArdle, and Patrick (Annie) McArdle; four great-grandchildren, Ava Pesavento, James, Daniel, and William McArdle; a brother-in-law, Albert (Ena) Schuetz; a sister-in-law, Katherine Schuetz, both of Monroe; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; an infant son, Eugene; two brothers, Roy (Dorothy) and Floyd (Goldie) Peter; and two sisters, Dora (Karl) Burkhalter and Gladys (Herman) Ziltener.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, with Rev. Tiff Bates officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe, followed by a luncheon at St. John's United Church of Christ. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established in Edna's name.
