Eileen E. LaBorde
Age 97 of Monroe, died Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Monroe. Eileen was born on December 18, 1920 in Amboy, IL, the daughter of Homer and Elizabeth (Hannah) Clark. She married John Phillip "Jack" LaBorde on December 18, 1937 in Dubuque, Iowa. She and Jack operated a dairy farm in Jefferson Township for 17 years before moving into Juda where Eileen operated an upholstery business out of their home. Following Jack's death on August 30, 1974, Eileen worked as a cook at the Juda School. In March, 1991, Eileen was asked to be the resident manager of St. John's Garden Apartments. She held this position for over 20 years. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and in her spare time, Eileen enjoyed doing needlework and various other crafts.
She is survived by her daughter, Jane (Dennis) Swiggum of Monroe; a son, Jerry LaBorde of Argyle; sisters, Bette Gell of Oviedo, FL, and Doris (Ronald) Stone of Rock Island, IL; brother-in-law, Russell Kundert of Monroe; sisters-in-law, Florence Evans of Freeport, IL, and Alfreda Rusk of SC; grandchildren, Heidi Witt, Bryan (Amy) Witt, Eric (Christine) Swiggum, Wendy (Mark) Horbinski, Jill (Kirk) Leitzen, Peggy LaBorde, and Mickey LaBorde. She is further survived by several great grandchildren, great- great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Judith K. Witt; brothers, William, Homer Jr., and Richard Clark; and sisters, Mildred Meiers and Frances Witt.
A celebration of Eileen's life will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2018, at 12:00 p.m., at St. Clare Friedensheim Chapel, 2003 4 th Street, Monroe, with Rev. Kathleen Rinear officiating. Private family burial will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Juda. Visitation will be at the Friedensheim chapel on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials are suggested to St. John's Garden Apartments or Friends of Pleasant View in Eileen's name. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family.
