Eileen Virginia Wells
Age 91 of Monroe, formerly of Browntown, died Monday, February 27, 2017 at St. Clare Friedensheim. Eileen was born at home on April 20, 1925 in Green County, the daughter of Fred C. and Hulda (Haessig) Theiler. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's United Church of Christ in Monroe and graduated from Monroe High School in 1943. She married Wilbur A. Wells on October 26, 1943 at the Browntown Methodist Church. Eileen joined Wilbur in Mt. Hood, Texas until he was sent overseas with the U.S. Army. After returning to Browntown, Eileen worked at Burgess Battery in Monroe for the duration of World War II. She worked with her husband at the Wells Clover Farm Store in Browntown from 1957 until 1967 and was employed at Advance Transformer for 19 years until her retirement. Following Wilbur's death on Dec. 28, 2002, Eileen resided at Twining Valley from 2005 until moving to St. Clare Friedensheim in 2013. She was an active member of Peace United Church of Christ in Browntown, and enjoyed traveling with her husband, especially to Las Vegas. Eileen also was an avid card player, enjoyed polka dancing and the occasional coffee klatch with family and friends. She also helped establish the Browntown Museum and was the last surviving charter member. Above all else, Eileen's greatest pride and joy in her life was her three children which eventually extended to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her three loving children, David (Mary) Wells of Merrimac, WI, Don (Kate) Wells of Versailles, Kentucky, and Kathy Jo (Bruce) Young of Ottawa, IL; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She is further survived by sisters-in-law, Pat Theiler of Browntown and Ardith Oldenburg of Edgerton; an uncle, Glenn Haessig of Riverside, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Willis and Ronald Theiler; and in-laws, Rollie and Mabel Wells, Marvel (Ray) McCoy, Jean (Jim) Avery, Jim (JoAnn) Wells, and Jim Oldenburg.
Visitation will be held at Peace United Church of Christ, Browntown, on Friday, March 3, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Wayne Gregory officiating. A private inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. Memorials are suggested to the Monroe Clinic Hospice in Eileen's name. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family.
