Grace L. Cieliesz

Age 93 of Monroe, WI formerly of Rockford, died on Friday, July 25, 2014 at her home in Monroe. Grace was born January 14, 1921 in Rockford, the daughter of John and Nettie (Holmberg) Halbin. She graduated from Rockford Central High School in 1938 and married Mitchell Cieliesz on September 19, 1942 in Rockford. He preceded her in death on August 8, 1969. Grace was employed as a bookkeeper for Lorden Distributing of Rockford for 55 years before retiring in 1997. She has resided at St. Clare Friedensheim in Monroe for the past two years. Grace loved the company of family and friends and would help other people whenever she could. She lived by the motto: "You don't have to like somebody to help somebody".

Grace is survived by three children, Michael (Deborah) Cieliesz of Dalton, WI, Chuck Cieliesz of Archer, FL, and Jane (Jon) Moritz of Mazomanie, WI; a granddaughter, Jennifer Moore of Rock City, IL; and three great grandchildren, Rebecca, KayLee, and Nicholas Moore. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers, Bill, Frank, Ralph, and Earl Halbin; and two sisters, Marion Joyes and Jane Miller.

A celebration of Grace's life will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2014, at 11:00 A.M. at the Stockholm Inn, 2420 Charles St., Rockford, IL. Inurnment will be in Scandinavian Cemetery, Rockford. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established in Grace's name. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family.
