Irene I. Gissing

Age 88 of Winchester, Kentucky formerly of Clinton, WI, was called to heaven on October 16, 2014 with her daughter at her side. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Gissing, Jr. and three infants, Dorothy Irene, Robert (Butchie) III and Nettie Mae.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol Jean (Jeff) Ware-Jefferson; a brother, Gerald (Nancy) Steffensen; and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Extended family members are Cindy (Bill) Meyers, Bonnie (Roger) Dearth, and Jessica and Claudia Hamilton.

Irene enjoyed yard work, playing cards, bingo, embroidering, and word search puzzles. She was happiest when she and Bob went dancing and time spent with family members.

A graveside memorial service will be held at Mount Vernon Cemetery, Juda, on Friday, September 11, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. A celebration of life will follow at the La Iguana Restaurant, Highway 11-81, Juda. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family.
