Janet A. Morgan

Age 91, of Monroe, died Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at Collinwood Care Center in Brodhead. Janet was born on December 8, 1931 in Dodgeville, the daughter of David M. and Elsie A. (James) Morgan. She graduated from Mineral Point High School in 1949 and earned a degree in Education with an emphasis on Kindergarten from U.W. Platteville. Janet furthered her education by receiving a Masters' degree in Education from U.W. Whitewater. She taught one year in Milwaukee before beginning her teaching career in Monroe. She taught at Abe Lincoln and Northside Elementary Schools for 40 years before retiring.

Janet was an avid Wisconsin Badger fan attending many sporting events and was a big booster of Monroe Cheesemaker athletics. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, St. John's Choir, Wisconsin Retired Educators' Association, Sweet Adelines of Alpine Valley, Welsh Gymanfa Ganu Association of Wisconsin, Monroe Booster Club, and was an active volunteer for various causes in Monroe including the National Historic Cheesemaking Center. She enjoyed traveling with her friends, Betty Timm and Ruth Peterson.

Janet is survived by a niece, Megan (John) Anderson; her nephew's widow, Bonita Paynter; and special friends, Brad (Cathy) Timm. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, David Morgan; sister, Marietta (John) Paynter; nephew, Bruce Paynter; and special friend, Betty Timm.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., at Graceland Cemetery, Mineral Point, with Rev. Todd Hackman officiating.
