Leland L. Showers Jr., age 68, of Monroe, died Sunday, February 11, 2024. He was born on August 14, 1955 in Monroe, the son of Leland L. Showers Sr. and Rosemarye A. (Koch) Showers. He was united in marriage to Connie M. Gadow on July 12, 1975. Lee enjoyed sharing his knowledge of history, reading a good book, making delicious meals, baking chocolate chip cookies, nurturing his house plants, receiving compliments on his beautiful outdoor flowers, and taking long rides in the countryside while listening to music and checking on the progress of the farm crops. What mattered most to Lee was time spent with family and friends, whether in person or on the phone, making memories.

He is survived by his wife, Connie; daughter, Ruth (Andrew) Suthers and their children, Amelia, Elizabeth, and Thomas; daughter, Rachel Showers; son, Leland III (Rachel) Showers; sister, Anna (David) Davis; brother, Eugene (Brenda) Showers; sister-in-law, Jill Rosheisen; brother-in-law, Jack (Jill) Gadow; and other beloved family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wendell Showers; father and mother-in-law, Orvel and Joan (Roettger) Gadow; and brother-in-law, Randy Rosheisen.

A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe. Inurnment will be at a later date in Bethel-Hawthorne Cemetery, rural Monroe. A memorial fund will be established in Lee's name. Condolences may be shared at www.newcomerfuneralhome.net
