Obituary

Marilyn June Hartwig (nee Hasse) 95, passed away peacefully at Aster Assisted Living, Monroe on August 14, 2026. Born on June 18, 1931, to the late Glen and Alice Hasse, Marilyn lived her entire life on the farm she was born into. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1949 and was married to William "Bill" Hartwig for 68 years until his passing in 2018. Together, they worked side by side farming and enjoyed dancing. Marilyn was a tireless worker on the farm and held part-time positions off the farm with the last one before retirement being at the First National Bank. Marilyn was a member of St. John's UCC and attended Peace Bible Church in Browntown with her daughter when able. She volunteered hundreds of hours in the St. Clare Hospital Gift Shop and had many wonderful times golfing and playing cards with her friends. Marilyn and her daughter enjoyed traveling together, especially to Hawaii, Switzerland and the Caribbean.

She is survived by her daughter, Wendy (Will) Pick; Grandson Nick Hartwig; Granddaughter Angela (JJ) McLean; Great-Grandchildren, Meadow Hartwig, Tripp and Tadhg McLean as well as dear nieces and nephews she adored. Marilyn was predeceased by her husband, Bill Hartwig; son and daughter-in-law, Kim (Sue) Hartwig; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Glenda (Bill) Endrulat and Geraldine (Emil) Rufer.

A private family memorial service will be held at Peace Bible Church, Browntown. The family wishes to thank the staff at Aster Assisted Living and St. Croix Hospice for giving her wonderful dedicated care and close friend, Judy Pfingsten, for her friendship. Though she is away from us now, she has been welcomed into eternal life through Jesus Christ, the Savior. The Newcomer Funeral Home is serving the family.
