Otto E. Thurlemann

Age 90 of Monroe, died Thursday, February 12, 2015 at his home. Otto was born in Switzerland on July 5, 1924, the son of Josef Anton and Theresia Maria (Grawehr) Thurlemann. He attended school and served in the Swiss Military before emigrating to the United States. Otto worked as a cheesemaker in Warren, IL and Monroe until 1969. He was employed in the maintenance department of Moore Business Forms from 1969 until retiring in 1989. Otto was a member of Saint Victor Catholic Church and the Monroe Swiss Singers for many years.

He is survived by his wife Alma Thurlemann of Monroe and a daughter, Jeannie Thurlemann of Kansas City, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers and sisters in Switzerland.

A prayer service will be held on Monday, February 16, 2015, at 1:30 p.m., at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, with Father Mike Klarer officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Monroe. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
