Patricia R. Adams

Age 81 of Columbus Junction, Iowa, formerly of Monroe, died onMonday, April 3, 2017 at Washington County Health Center in Washington, Iowa. Patricia was born September 11, 1935 in Janesville, the daughter of Raymond and Wilhelmina (Deppeler) Fiedler. She graduated from Evansville High School in 1954 and served in the U.S. Navy until receiving her honorable discharge. She furthered her education by attending Green County Teacher's College and receiving a B.S. degree in Elementary Education from U.W. Platteville. Pat married Gerald A. Adams and later divorced.  She taught at Buckskin Rural School and retired in 1996 following 30 years of teaching predominantly fourth graders at the Juda School. She was a member of the Green County Retired Teachers and had many hobbies and passions which included hiking especially the Grand Canyon and various mountain trails, traveling to the western states, playing a mean game of scrabble, an avid reader, crocheting, photography, collecting rocks and family get togethers. She was a firm believer that you should learn something every day!

She is survived by her daughter, Cyndy (Dan) Griffin of Columbus Junction, IA; three grandsons, Joshua Leopold, Jamie (Kristen) Leopold, and Cody Rackow; eight great grandchildren; a brother, Alan (MaryAnn) Fiedler of Phoenix, AZ; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Jeanette Schmidt.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at 10:00 a.m., at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, with Monsignor Larry Bakke officiating. Interment will be in West Clarno Pioneer Cemetery in Clarno Township followed by a luncheon at the American Legion Post #84, Monroe. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday, April 10, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested in Pat's name to the Juda School.
