Peter A. Steinmann Sr.

Age 88, of Monroe, died Saturday, October 22, 2022 at SSM Hospice Home, Monroe. Pete was born on June 9, 1934 in Argyle, the son of Ernest and Elise (Dubach) Steinmann. He attended Monroe High School and was united in marriage to Roxana Young on August 24, 1955 at St. Victor Catholic Church, Monroe. Pete farmed for several years in the Monroe area and worked as an operating engineer for McGuire Construction for 22 years before retiring in 1999.

He was a member of the Monroe Moose Lodge #754 and Operating Engineers Local #139. Pete loved playing with his grandkids and always cherished their visits. Throughout the years, he enjoyed playing cards, bowling, shooting pool, and collecting antique cars and tractors.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Roxie Steinmann of Monroe; six children, Ward Sr. (Denise) of Juda, Peter Jr., Wade (Anne), both of Monroe, Tina (Matt) Keller of Milton, Joel (Val) of Brodhead, Jon (Michelle) of Monroe; 17 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; his brother, Robert of Green Bay; sister-in-law, Joyce Steinmann of Monroe; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Todd; infant grandson, Shea-Tate; infant great grandson, Winston; brothers, Hans and Ernest; and a sister, Lillian Steinmann.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 28, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., at the NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, Monroe, with Pastors Koel Steinmann and Paul Gregersen officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Monroe, followed by a luncheon at the Monroe Moose Lodge. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
