Philip L. Stephenson

Age 94, of Monroe, died Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at SSM Monroe Hospice Home. Phil was born on November 30, 1928 in Denver, CO, the son of Leander and Edith (Fry) Stephenson. He served five years in the U.S. Navy as a radar specialist during the Korean War. Phil was united in marriage to Barbara Pannell on January 16, 1953 in Waynesboro, VA. He worked 16 years as a Systems Analyst for Swift Co in Denver, and 25 years for CNA Insurance in Chicago until retiring. Mr. Stephenson was an Elder at the Monroe congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

He is survived by four daughters, Debra Ward, Susan Pressley, Heidi (Steve) Stephenson, Beth Stephenson; three grandchildren, Samantha (Brad), Brandy, and Laylah; and a great granddaughter, Mercedes. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara, on Nov. 24, 2018; daughter, Sharon, on Sept. 27, 2017; one brother; and one sister.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 2:00 p.m., at Kingdom Hall, Monroe, with Mike Plucinski speaking. Memorial funds will help toward funeral expenses. Condolences may be shared at www.newcomerfuneralhome.net
