Richard "Rick" A. Davis

Age 74, of Siesta Key, Fla., passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2022.

Born in Madison, Wis., he was the eldest of four boys. Rick moved around as a boy with his family and then attended both the University of Wisconsin in Madison and then the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, where he earned his BA and PhD in toxicology.

After schooling, Rick joined the Air Force in 1975 and resided in Fairborn, Ohio. Rick's occupation brought the family to Short Hills, N.J., in 1979. Rick resided in New Jersey until 2008 when he and his wife, Sharon, moved to Lancaster. Most recently, Rick and Sharon enjoyed spending time in Siesta Key, enjoying their friends and the weather.

Rick was very active in his life enjoying traveling, sailing, and skiing with Sharon. He was a huge fan of Ohio State athletics as well as all things aviation, including launches from Kennedy Space Center.

Rick had a long and accomplished career in toxicology retiring at the age of 70 years old from his established consulting business. Rick and Sharon would have celebrated 32 years of marriage this August. Rick was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, who will be missed dearly by his family.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Allen C. and Helen (Sommers) Davis; and his brother, Martin Davis.

Rick leaves his wife, Sharon Gillen-Davis of Siesta Key; his two brothers, Scott Davis of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and Jay Davis of Denver, Colo.; his son Kepler A. (Aimee E.C.) Davis of Evans, GA; his daughter, Casse Davis Rose of Toledo, Ohio; and his six grandchildren, William, Andrew, and Elizabeth Davis of Evans, and Alex, Kyle, and Abigail Rose of Toledo.

A celebration of Rick's life will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ, Monroe, with Rev. Tiff Bates officiating. Inurnment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. There will be no visitation. Condolences may be shared at www.newcomerfuneralhome.net
